Hip arthritis: healthy hip

These images show a healthy hip joint with a good loading situation and without any damage to the smooth, shiny cartilage.

The cartilage cells seen in the blue layer of the image are evenly distributed and therefore wellnourished. The cartilage is nourished through the joint fluid, which is worked into the cartilage during movement.

For this reason, regular exercise is important for the joint since this is the only way to sufficiently nourish the cartilage.
