Coxa vara: flattened hips
With normal leverage, the hip is loaded concentrically: Pressure is distributed evenly over a large area of the head and the acetabulum.
Such behavior is also reflected in the so-called “pistol-grip” deformity.
In a normal hip, pressure is evenly distributed over a large area of the head and the joint socket. This can be seen in the picture above where the entire femur head is covered by the joint socket. In the picture below, only about 2/3 of the head is covered by the joint socket.
