Stabilizing the cartilage
Chondroitin sulfate is the first line of defense. This product provides the cartilage with restorative substances, and can thereby stabilize it. Chondroitin sulfate is a biological compound made from fish cartilage, which is why the tablets (or granules) have no side effects.
Hyaluronan injections with a viscous content can also act like a lubricant and provide better mobility in the joint. Since they simultaneously bind damaging substances, they will slow down the progression of arthritis. Delivery of hyaluronan to the hip joint is however more challenging than for the knee. In addition, health insurance does not always cover the cost of this therapy.
